The "Perspective" Chair

Ummmm... who is going to be this chair? Besides Pharrell (yes, the rapper-musician-producer)who in colloboration with Domeau & Peres designed this "Persepective Chair". In case you haven't caught in, this chair is supposed to represent the "love" between a woman and a ban... It took me a while too. Anyways, this is only part of a larger colloection- there are other chairs and tables. The chairs will be available in a few colors and only 4 of each will be sold. What only 4? I'm sooooo surprised.

Pull A Pencil And Have A Seat

The Pencil Bench is a bench that has a seating surface made of 1,600 pencils...Which is a lot. All the pencils fit into holes in the bottom so you can remove and use them if you desire.

It's made by Boex 3D Creative Solutions and will set you back $2,450 -- a ridiculous price for a few pieces of wood and a shit-ton of pencils, don't you think? I mean you could conceivably make this in an afternoon. I bet they didn't even use the pencils with good erasers. I bet those are the ones that smear your writing instead of erasing it. God I hate those things. And while it may support Mr. 28" x 32" in the picture, what about a "fuller figure" model like myself? What happens when you set down 250 lbs. on that bitch? I'll tell you what happens -- a bunch of cheap pencils get rammed up their ass... let's hope no one turns the pencils around now.

In Relation to Below...

A photo of my floating Buddha... that spins! Read the posting below for more info...

Levitating Furniture!

I kind of want a levitating Buddha in my next house! Crealev, a Netherlands based company, has developed a way to "levitate an open platform with whatever you want on top to a significant height in a stable and resilient way." No word on how it works, but it's allegedly inexpensive (although I find that hard to believe) and requires little power (0.5-0.8 watts for the items in the video). They're taking custom orders now, but plan to have a line of products available in the future. Magic baby! That ass-clown Criss Angel doesn't have shit on this Crealev... maybe I'll order a magic carpet and ride around it all day!

Ikea Fort Lauderdale- Grand Opening!

Ikea is finally set to open in Fort Lauderale on October 17, 2007. People are allowed to start lining up on October 15 at 9:00 a.m. The Swedish retailer traditionally opens on a Wednesday, and draws crowds of shoppers who camp out in advance to gather freebies and be among the first to set foot in the store.

Grand-opening festivities will begin at 8:30 a.m. and will include flag-raising and log-sawing ceremonies. Under traditional Swedish customs, log-sawing brings good luck to the home and all of its future guests. By the time 9 a.m. rolls around, several hundred to several thousand people will be waiting in line for the doors to open, Roth said. When the store opened July 25 in Portland, Ore., the company gave away a free PoƤng armchair to the first 100 adults in line and prize envelopes containing gift cards and food vouchers to the first 2,500 visitors.

Shoppers camped out a couple of days in advance of the opening. Ikea will allow people to start lining up at 9 a.m. Oct. 15, and will have restroom facilities set up on site. On opening day and through the weekend, Ikea has arranged for off-site parking at the BankAtlantic Center and will be running 14 trolleys to and from the store and the arena. Parking at the store's two-story garage will be controlled as well.

Wall Decals...

I admit that this is a gratuitous posting for me... but you'll deal! I had never really understood the "fascination" with wallpaper or worse "Wall Decals" until I saw it first hand. In visiting my local Pottery Barn last week, they were showing quick and easy ways of changing a room and the best way was paint (obviously) but then also wall decals! They come on and off easily and look GREAT in person. What did I love most? Bamboo - would look so awesome in the right bathroom... but another great choice, the shadow chandelier. I didn't include the PB site, but this attached website is dedicated to wall decals only. The way I see it, this is the grown up version of stickers... now only if I could scratch and sniff.
