Interesting Skin Care...

This really can't be real... there is this "exciting" new skin treatment which promises to permanently revitalize aging skin with injection of healthy young skin cells. OK- that sounds ok-until you hear that those young skin cells come from babies' foreskins. Yes, newborn babies are circumcised and then the foreskins are sent to a lab and turned into anti-aging potion or whatever.

Developed by a biomedical company, "Vavelta" is a clear liquid, made from millions of microscopic new skin cells cultured from babies' foreskins, which is then injected into the skin to treat wrinkles, sun damage, and scars. The clinical trials, which took place in London using "material" from a US hospital, have just been completed and reportedly show the technique to be "astonishingly effective." This is maybe no less insane than paralyzing your face with poison four times a year- but it's certinaly a lot creepier.

RUN!!! Don't WALK To Purchase This Product

I just had the pleasure of being the maid of honor in my best friend's wedding this weekend- which was spectacular! Besides you know the whole awesome-ness of seeing your best friend become a married woman... I have to say, that she hired the best makeup artist ever. In any event, she used this Makeup Forever HD Primer and Powder that made everyone look AMAZING close up and in photos. You must buy it -- it completely evens out your skin tone and makes you look like you're glowing!!

I know she's an expert... but I just can't help thinking that this product had something to do with it. The proof is in the pictures. Ignore the underwear...

Mascara On The Move

I've never understood vibrating toothbrushes and wonder who these people are that won't do the up-and-down brush motion with their hands, and need an appliance to actually do the brushing movement for them.

So when I read about Estee Lauder's new "TurboLash All Effects Motions Mascara", a battery-operated, vibrating mascara- naturally, the same questions popped into my head. WHY DOES IT NEED TO VIBRATE? Can't you just sweep on mascara by yourself? Estee Lauder claims that there's a "relationship between vibration, length, volume, separation and curl."

UGH...unfortunately, as unlikely and unnecessary as this all sounds , I know that once it comes out, I'll buy it. People will buy it...it's $30 bones - 7 more than what I'm used to paying with Dior Show...

Lee Press On Eyeshadow...

Not sure how this will work for everyone... but now they have "Instant" eye shadow, which does for eyes what Less Press-On Nails did for women in the 80s. You basically just peel back the applicator, press it down and rub in. The concept is kind of cool - even the makeup retard can do the smoky eye look... but you can't really control where it goes, right? Not expensive, I'm almost tempted to order a pack of 10 for $30...

But isn't part of the fun getting ready?

Dying to be Straight

Either you have stick straight hair and you want it curly, or you have curly hair that you want straighten. In my case, I'm the former. Last year, I got a "body wave", while all of my friends were getting this Brazilian straightening method, which apparently was working wonders! But, one of my best friends, Ms. J.C., informed that this new Brazilian method could... kill you? In fact, she only got her bangs straightened and suffered a severe chemical reaction that inhibited her breathing for many days...

One word: "formaldehyde." Formaldehyde is known to cause cancer, and the amount used to straighten hair is more than ten times the amount deemed safe by the Cosmetic Ingredient Review Expert Panel. These chemicals can prove to be particularly harmful when you treat your hair at home. A 33- year old woman in Brazil actually died from this process. According to the National Health Surveillance Agency "What we thought possibly happened was that after doing the treatment, she was in the bathroom taking a shower and the heat caused a heart attack. She died in the shower." Sucks, because the results are amazing... read on...

Update: Avon Manicure...

Well, I finally had time to try the Avon "press on" French Manicure... eh. I wasn't super impressed, but I could see how this could be an awesome product. First- you need to have a relatively strong nail- it was hard for me to rip off the white, because my nails are so brittle... Second, you have to have a good idea to see how much white needs to actually be pressed on. I would buy the solid color again for sure. It is a good mid-week "polish change"... so that is the deal.

Lavish Your Lashes...

If I could deal with the maintenance, I would surely do the fake eyelash thing every two weeks. Unfortunately, that procedure left me bald. Anyways, that doesn't mean that I'm not a sucker for new beauty products... Tarte just came out with an "ergonomic" eyelash curler and two part mascara, $40. You can buy each item separately... the mascara and conditioner look like they have some purple snakeskin looking covering over it... interesting.

The Picture Perfect Eyelash Curler has a breakthrough ergonomic design so it won't pinch or crimp your lashes. The Take Two Declumping Lash Exhilarator, an herbal-infused conditioning treatment, prevents breakage. If you think about it, this makes perfect sense: After all, we condition the hair on our head. And the Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara is not like any mascara you've ever seen: It's guaranteed to give you a doe-eyed drama worthy of the big screen because the dermatologist-tested formula—that's right, a certified dermatologist actually worked on it—contains a potent cocktail of provitamin B5, vitamin C, antioxidants and natural olive esters.
