Just Because...

How do you know when you're REALLY rich (or unbelievably ostentatious)? When you buy watches with dinosaur bones inside just because you can.

This Louis Moinet Jurassic Tourbillon Watch does indeed feature fragments of 130-million-year-old dinosaur bones inside for some reason. Why? Who the fuck knows. But why not, really. It's also got other "nice" features, like an 18K white gold case with 56 diamonds on the bezel. So in other words, it's insanely expensive, because it has some dinosaur dust. And you'll be reminded of how rich you are every time you check the time. I guess that's the point, no?

What Recession?

Louis Vuitton has just launched two patented diamond cuts.

The Vuitton diamonds have between 61 and 77 facets and have been set into a bracelet, a pair of earrings, two brooches, a ring and a necklace-the latter consisting of 1,001 tiny brilliant-cut diamonds totaling 15 carats, coexisting with 65 round flower diamonds (49 carats) and 79 pointed ones (44 carats), for a combined bling bang of 108 carats that retails for about $4 million.
I guess times aren't tough for everybody...

This Is A Bit Much...

Dutch artist Eric Klarenbeek has created jewelry for your eyeballs....yes, your EYEBALLS. He's created contact lenses with dangling charms and unnecessarily ventures into uncharted territory of self-adornment. If you have to wear contact lenses anyway, why not add some flair...or not and say you did. It seriously looks like you just forgot to wash your face in the morning.

Am I Being Punked?

This just proves to me that you don't have to have ANY skill to be a designer or have your own jewelry line. This "slutbag" necklace is $55- WHO ON EARTH WOULD PAY $55 to advertise that they are a slutbug?? And (I love this) their "tag line" is "Feeling a little slutty? Or a lot slutty?"
Look out for my new t-shirt line, the inagural season's shirts are going to say, "Jam Out With Your Clam Out" and "Vagina". And then I'm going to charge $105 and if they're on organic cotton shirts, $210. Yeah. That's it.

Does Anyone Look At Her Ears?

I guess it's not unusual to see a high-profile professional athlete score a million dollar endorsement deal with the likes of Adidas, Nike, and Reebok and as a condition of the contract, you have to wear their stuff during games.
But you would be hard pressed to find even the most flamboyant of athletic stars rocking semi-precious stones or diamonds while competing in their field of expertise. I mean, would T.O. rock a blinged out chain or studs during a game? DOUBTFUL.

Well, that is until now. Tiffany & Co. announced that it signed a two-year deal with tennis champ Maria Sharapova. Tiffany & Co. will outfit her at in eight different pairs of earrings over the next eight Grand Slam tennis events, including the French Open, Wimbledon and the U.S. and Australian Opens. Additionally, the pair of earrings Sharapova wears on court and at the various Grand Slam events will then be available immediately for sale at Tiffany's stores worldwide. N0w I need to know- chandeliers, studs... what are we talking? And honestly, who is looking at Sharapova's ears? Irregardless, aren't her ears covered with all that Nike crap?

Of course, it gets better. Tiffany & Co. has also accessorized Sharapova's custom French Open tennis dress. The "Paris dress," by Nike will be a 1920s-inspired ultra-light design that is finished with luminous Tiffany pearl button closures that fastens at the back of the dress. Is this necessary? Her hair is way longer than any back button enclosure!

Don't worry, I'm not jealous...arghhh... If only I drank more milk as a young child, enjoyed exercise, had uber genes to perform superhuman athletic feats...I'm sure I could be getting these multi-million dollar endorsements AND able to wear free awesome jewelry. But hey, I'm kinda "smart," that certainly makes up for it all.

Try Not To Be Blinded

Overall, the jewelry market has seen signs of weakness lately but the tip of the market is still going strong (typical). The blue diamond shown above is a 13.39 carat stunner which sold for a world record price of $8.9 million at a sale at Christie's in Geneva last Wednesday. Just in case you're curious, this stunner is set with a rectangular-cut fancy intense blue diamond weighing 13.39 carats and then micro pavé-set with fancy pink diamonds - because white would have been too "pedestrian".

Charm-ful Necklace...

For one reason or another, I am feeling these "Accessories & Beyond" necklaces - perfect for just a white tanktop/jeans day... Also, went to http://www.daszign.com/ - only to realize that daszign and couture candy have merged and now price match! That's pretty cool... Daszign had to be going down the tubes, every day I would get a new 20% coupon from them.... thoughts?

12 Months Of Juicy: Deal or No Deal?

It's obviously that time of year- gift finding and giving... so, there I am, looking over Neiman Marcus and I come across this Juicy Couture charm bracelet that comes with 12 charms. The problem is is that it's $500! Anyways, you can purchase them all at once or join the "By-The-Month" program in which one charm gets sent to you each month. I'm wondering if they just lumped all of their most unpopular charms into one box and then try to tell you they're giving you a "deal".

I suppose if you were really into the Juicy charm bracelet that this would be a deal... I mean, each charm averages around $50-75 by itself right?

Some Beads To Jazz Up Your Boring Outfit

It seems that since "California" cool has been in - all of my clothes have strayed away from any type of pattern. Everything I have seems to be solid... as such, the key to standing out (as I see it) is accessories. Check out this beautiful looking Day Birger piece - totally makes a plain white tee into a statement. Purcahse it for your next holiday party or for that woman with discerning taste on your shopping list!

Gold Diggers May Not Get Jewelry For The Holidays

I didn't even make up that headline... MSNBC wrote that - ergo, it MUST be true. Anyways, an ounce of gold that cost $680 in mid-August has surged close to $800 today. This is absolutely ridiculous - the price of gold is inflating faster than oil. Anyways, that chunky gold bracelet you should be getting is going to be replaced by a thin ass bangle. Great.

Here is a perfect example of inflation. Remember that Tiffany's bracelet that everyone had in silver... the chunky silver one with the heart. Yeah, I thought so. Anyways, the bracelet also came in gold and I remember looking at it - just about 5 years ago. 5 years ago it was $900 - today, it is $1,850. Kill yourself. That's not hot.

$16.2 Million Will...

Get you a 84.37-carat white diamond. And that's it... can you even imagine if some dude presented you with a near flawless 84 carat diamond? The diamond was auctioned at Sotheby's and was sold to Guess clothing company founder Georges Marciano - who knew business was so good? I haven't purchased a guess item in AGES (but I saw one dress that I liked from Marciano). "The diamond has received the highest possible grading, Sotheby's said. It is D-color, or finest white, has flawless clarity, and its cut, polish and symmetry have all been graded excellent, it said.

20% Off Jorgana Jewelry

I love a good deal! I always get e-mails about sales or find them around the net... so, if you get them too, sorry to be redundant.

1. 20% off at http://www.gorjana.com/ - There's plenty to choose from, including necklaces, bracelets, and rings. The Gorjana jewelry line is very trendy and has been seen in magazines like People, Lucky, and In Style and on celebs like Sophia Bush, Hayden Panettiere, and Mandy Moore. Need even more excuses to snap up some Gorjana? How about this fun 3-Petal Necklace (left)? The simple, layered shape and organic leaf design is stylish without being to the face. Exactly how we like our baubles. COUPON CODE: SPREE (ps- you have to go to "online" stores to shop... can be confusing! But you can pick from shopbop, lisa kline, etc...).

Diamond iPhone

Who is going to use and buy this item? A person with a lot of personality I'm sure...

Amosu has come out with what it calls "the first diamond Apple iPhone." In classically over-the-top fashion, the U.K. purveyor has adorned this limited edition with 420 diamonds totaling 5.65 carats set in 18k white or yellow gold, with a choice of white, black or pink. Decisions, decisions, decisions. Should be available in November 2008.

Now seriously- don't drop this one in the toilet or better yet, don't leave it at a club.

Bling It On

I love it , I love it and I want more of it! Crystal Icing has a new Signature Limited Edition LUX Sidekick which is covered in amber, 24K gold and dipped swarovski crystals all for a mere $1,700. It definitely makes a statement. If you prefer a less expensive version (and no one ever "prefers" the less expensive version to my knowledge), different colors, or want to crystallize your ipod, laptop or other device the options are endless. Check out their gallery...

So make your phone a work of art -- just don't accidentally drop it in the toilet.

More Jewels I Don't Want...

You have to either be a Scrabble lover or a nerd to like this... under what circumstance would this go with any outfits? I seriously don't get it... Maybe it's a costume! Yes.... it's a new "costume or not" item.

White Trash Charms

No- I didn't make that name up all by myself.... even given the "lovely" image attached. White Trash Charms is a jewelry company based out of NY famously worn by the girls of the Sex and the City and frequently used by master stylist Patricia Field. Point being- only a company name "White Trash Charms" could get away with a crushed beer can for a necklace. The price tag? $215!! Not so trailer friendly.

Another Sign That Women Are Coming Up...

Tiffany & Co. which just opened their new huge store on Wall Street is now expanding in a smaller way. The purveyors of fine jewelry have a plan to open 70 stores that are 2,000 square feet. The stores, tentatively titled Tiffany & Co. Collections won't be where a man goes to big up the big sparkly "I do" piece. In fact, WWD reports that the stores will feature women's jewelry but no engagement or "statement" (translation: huge mega rocks) pieces. The stores are meant to attract today's women who can buy their own jewelry... Pieces will be priced from just under $100 to $15,000 and the first store is set to open next year.

Now... is this good news or bad news? Again, women buying their own jewelry. WHY? Whatever happened to tradition?

Breil Milano Watches

After Academy Award-winning actress Charlize Theron's rather disastrous alliance with watch company Raymond Weil, I'm a bit surprised that the beauty signed herself up for another watch shilling gig (not to mention one that has a very similar sounding name to the last company she worked with). Last time the poor girl got sued for breach of contract just for wearing another company's watch.

Let's hope her new job as the face of Italian luxury brand Breil Milano goes more smoothly. Theron has been signed to a multi-year contract and the ad campaign is already out. She will star in all Breil Milano advertisements, including spots on television ,print media and outdoor advertisements in various the countries where the brand is marketed.
If for nothing else, I really like the watch... can someone say Christmas bonus?

I Love My Dog... But Not This Much

Here's another one for the "world's most expensive" files. You are looking at the Amour Amour from I Love Dogs Diamonds. They really must love dogs, this is a 52-carat diamond dog collar which is worth $1.8 million. The collar includes 1600 hand-set diamonds with a seven-carat, D-IF, brilliant cut center diamond. The line of diamond dog collars include other pieces named Juene Cheri, Amour de la Mer, L'Etoile, and Cheri and selling for $280,000 to $480,000.
